The Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) is the first constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) established through the Government Notice No. 202 published on 22nd July 2005 under section 55(1) of the University of Dar es Salaam Act No. 12 of 1970. It was established in response to the need for more primary and secondary education teachers following the implementation of the Primary Education Development Programme (PEDP) and Secondary Education Development Programme (SEDP) which led to increased demand of teachers and educational administrators. DUCE implements three core functions: teaching, research, and consultancy services. In teaching, the College offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses through its three Faculties: Faculty of Education (FoED), Faculty of Science (FoSc), and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FoHSS). In research, members of staff carry out research works in fields of natural sciences, humanities, sciences, and education, and share the outputs with the broader community to improve livelihood. Also, the College offers consultancy services in a range of fields under the coordination of the Directorate of Public Service and Outreach Programmes. The organization is an equal opportunity employer, hence all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
