Role Responsibilities:

  • Innovative Strategy Development: Craft sourcing and category management strategies that are efficient and inclusive, ensuring security of local raw material supply with a focus on quality delivered on time.
  • Supplier Diversity & Empowerment: Partner with diverse vendors and suppliers, encouraging relationships that empower them to thrive. Develop strategies to support supplier growth and sustainability.
  • Collaborative Relationships: Build positive partnerships with key suppliers to ensure reliability, sustainability, and mutual success.
  • Strategic Negotiations: Negotiate contracts aligning with Diageo’s objectives while promoting fair practices. Analyze procurement costs to identify opportunities for increased efficiency.
  • Market Insight & Risk Mitigation: Conduct detailed market research to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and shifts in negotiating power. Develop proactive strategies for balanced long-term deals

Experience / skills required:

To be successful in this role, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position, showcasing agility and strong business acumen. They must possess a solid understanding of agriculture value chains, agribusiness finance, and Climate Smart Agriculture within the Tanzanian context. Experience in developing and implementing agriculture category strategies is essential, along with outstanding communication and influencing skills to effectively partner with multiple stakeholders at various levels. A proven track record in analyzing and solving problems is crucial, as is demonstrated ability in farmer engagement, training, and capacity building. Candidates should hold a university degree in agricultural sciences complemented by additional skills in agribusiness management. A master’s degree will be considered an added advantage for those looking to excel further in this dynamic field.
