Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in Denver, USA. AGA has operations in more than ten countries across four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 120 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its main office and operations in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

To assist in the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance and quality control activities for drilling and blasting operations. The role ensures compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and technical specifications to optimize blasting efficiency and minimize risks. The attendant supports data collection, inspection, and reporting to help maintain high standards of quality and safety in drill and blast activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate of Secondary Education or above.
  • The incumbent must have a valid Blasting Certificate and a valid Tanzanian driving license.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least two (2) years of experience, preferably in the Drill and Blast section in an open-pit mining environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to drive a manual Light Vehicle (LV).
  • Ability to perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) on bulk explosives.
  • Understanding of drilling operations and factors affecting hole quality and drilling efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic knowledge of mining operations and site protocols.
  • Ability to accurately collect, record, and report data.
