Background and Purpose of the Assignment:
WFP Tanzania through its Country Strategic Plan (CSP, 2022-2027) is supporting the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to deliver equitable and inclusive economic growth through investments in human capital, resilient livelihoods and nutritious diets. Key priorities in the CSP include providing policy-level advocacy and technical assistance to national systems on school feeding and nutrition towards improving the nutrition situation using a lifecycle approach and contribute to better learning experience.
In line with the CSP objectives, the WFP Tanzania Country Office in Dar es Salaam is seeking to fill an internship position for 8 months to provide project management and coordination support to the Nutrition, HIV and School-Based Programmes team under the Programme Unit.
The Intern will perform the following duties:
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Provide day-day project management and coordination support to Nutrition, HIV, School-Based Programmes and food systems ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
- Support the development of communication and knowledge products including infographics, short videos for resource mobilisation, advocacy, information and other purposes targeting different audiences.
- Contribute to the preparation of project briefs, concept notes and proposals and support the team to track project data, timelines and deliverables.
- Contribute to various documentation on Nutrition, HIV and School-Based Programmes and support the preparation of accurate and timely reports, briefing notes and presentations that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and dissemination of lessons learned, best practices, and success stories from project implementation.
- Support the team on partnership management including coordination and undertaking administrative tasks.
- Support to enhance knowledge management including maintaining and updating the team’s repository, utilising innovative tools and approaches.
- Liaise with Programme staff and other units to ensure effective collaboration and timely delivery of activities and tasks such as procurement, administrative and logistical support for projects, missions, workshops, meetings etc.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Deliverables at the end of the contract:
The following will be deliverables of this consultancy during and after completion of the activity:
- Effective project management and coordination support provided to the Nutrition and School Feeding Team.
- Communication materials and knowledge products developed.
- Reports and documentation on nutrition, HIV and school-based programmes developed timely and with high quality.
- Knowledge management for the Nutrition and School Feeding Team improved and the repository for the Team is up to date.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Education:
- Currently enrolled in a Postgraduate (Master’s) programme; or
- Recent graduate (from an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Programme) within six months prior to application for the internship and attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment with the University.
- Preferred field of study: Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Development Studies/ International Development, Social Sciences, or other relevant University Degree.
