Also known colloquially as an end exam, the terminal examination is one which takes place on completion of the course of study. Examples include examinations for the award of a degree at the end of the period of undergraduate studies; and the external testing in General Certificate of Secondary Education subjects which takes place at the end of Key Stage 4.
